My name is Alice, and I'm here to help you improve your writing project.

I'm an experienced copy-editor and proofreader with a six-year history in the publishing industry. Before my freelance career, I worked as a Commissioning Editor, specialising in crime/thriller/mystery, non-fiction/memoir and historical fiction. I've worked on a host of books and helped both veteran authors and those with little to no experience. Some of the books I've worked on have been nominated for awards and achieved bestseller status.

I hold two qualifications in editing, a host of testimonials and a sunny, can-do outlook!

Drawing on my experience as a Commissioning Editor, I work with authors to elevate their manuscripts in preparation for their submission to agents and publishers or self-publishing programmes. Having been on the other side of acquisitions, I understand the competition and have insight into what publishers are looking for. I have particular experience with helping self-published authors tighten up their writing to suit the mainstream publishing arena.

I would describe my editing style as meticulous and professional yet collaborative and friendly.

In short, I appreciate the hard work and artistry that authors pour into their writing, and I approach manuscripts with that understanding. While sound spelling and grammar are my 'North Star', I believe the creator's opinion holds the greatest weight when it comes to stylistic or plot preferences.
